On October 23, 2015,Foreign Investment on Chinese capital markets Developments and enforcement-concepts from a Chinese and German comparative perspective international seminarwas held in Tongji University. This seminar was jointly organized bytheInstitute of Sino-German International Economic Law of Tongji Universityand Bucerius Law School.

The seminar was appealed by the Director ofthe Institute of Sino-German International Economic Law, Tongji University, Prof. Dr. GAO Xujun and the Vice Dean Prof. Dr. Rüdiger Veil of Bucerius Law School. At the same time, the unremitting supports coming from both Konrad Adenauer Foundation Shanghai office andShanghai Law Society also added the possibility to this event. The opening ceremony began with the addresses given by Prof. SONG Xiaoting, Deputy Dean of Tongji Law School, Mr. Dr. SHI Jixiong, Vice President of Shanghai Law Society, Ms. Prof. Dr. LIN Yanping,Vice President of East China University of Political Science and Law, Chairman of Shanghai Law Society, EU law, Mr. Dr. Winniges Tim,director of Konard Adenauer Foundation Shanghai office and Prof. Dr. Veil, Vice president of Bucerius Law School.

The seminar is composed of six topics including “Developments of Chinese capital markets and the relevance of foreign investments”, “The Shanghai Free Trade Zone- Consequences for Foreign Investments”, “Enforcement by Supervisory Authorities: Concepts and Experiences in Germany and China”, “Private Enforcement through Class Actions and other Procedural Possibilities- the Chinese, German and US-American Perspective”, “Directors’ liability in Chinese stock corporations – deficiencies and the need for a reform”, “Supervisory boards in Chinese and German stock corporation”. Each topic was given an in-depth presentation by the prestigious scholars and experts who are majoring in relevant areas.

People who enjoy the reputation in German company law and capital markets law were also invited to the seminar including Prof. Dr. Dr. Dr. mult. Klaus J. Hopt, MPI Hamburg, Prof. Dr. Matthias Casper, (Chairman ofInstitute of Business and Capital Market Law ofUniversity of Münster), Dr. Thomas Höppner, (Federal Financial Supervisory Authority, Germany security supervision, senior Policy officer, Section Financial Reporting Enforcement), Dr. Steffen Gehring, (Legal Director Südwestmetall, Verband der Metall und Elektroindustrie Baden-Württemberg).

Besides, on the second unit of the seminar, Global Bridges and a lot of German government officials, Mr, Andreas Schwarz and Mr. Metin Hakverdi (the former members of the General Federal Parliament in Germany), Mr. Simon Vaut, (meditator of German embassy in Brussels) and some entrepreneurs, lawyers, editors, president of societies also shares their opinions on the Sino-German capital markets.
